| Karen began selling Indian ink drawings
when she was twelve years old and started oil painting when she
was only fifteen. By her mid 20's, her work was represented in galleries
across Canada. In the early 1980's, her etchings were hanging in
the Backroom Gallery in Victoria, British Columbia and her graphite
portraits hung in the Touchstone Gallery in Yellowknife, North West
Territories. In Lethbridge, the House of Fine Art quickly took to
displaying her watercolour work in their gallery. As well, the owner
of Toa Chen's Gallery approached her to display her art. Her first
solo show was held in 1985 in that same gallery. By the late 1980's
she was also represented by Arctic Art of Yellowknife.
Upon arriving in Sudbury, Ontario, her work was immediately noticed.
The Artisan hung many of her paintings on their walls, as did Sudbury
Fine Arts and A Little Something. Commissioned paintings were ordered
(as had been in every other city she resided), and pieces sold quickly
from The Attic, another local gallery. She has garnered first place,
best of show ribbons in Alberta, the Northwest Territories and Ontario,
all in juried art exhibits.
Within the last few years, her pieces have been displayed at Art
Mode Gallery in Ottawa, as well as at Be Creative in Sudbury.
Karen's work has traveled the globe and it has always left a strong
impression wherever it has landed.
